Making Gingerbread People Cookies

Today we read the story the Gingerbread Man and make cookies in the shapes of gingerbread people.
We decided to make the dough out of sugar cookies rather than gingerbread which usually doesn't go over too well with preschoolers' tastebuds.  Jenny rolled out the dough and each child got to make their own cookie shape.  After we baked them (we were sure to not open the oven too early like in the story so the gingerbread cookies wouldn't run away!) we let them cool and decorated them for snack.  Some comments we heard were: "I made buttons", "I'm painting his head", "he's gonna have one big blue eye", "here's his chocolate tummy", "brown on the feet for shoes", and lots of "yummies"!

  1. I'm sad that Adin was too sick to join in the fun, but I'm so glad I kept him home today! He was wiping his nose every ten seconds and that would have been a nightmare during cooking.
