Today we read the book Lots of Latkes and learned about the holiday Hanukkah. Teacher Lori brought in a menorah to show us how she lights the candles each night of Hanukkah and we helped her make potato pancakes (latkes) - Hannukah tradition. We helped mix up the potato mixture and she fried up the latkes. We got to try one with either applesauce or ketchup. Roxie's daddy even stopped by to sample one too! After lunch we played the dreidel game and each got chocolate Hanukkah gelt to take home.

Big Cheese Adin
Adin is our Big Cheese this week! His mom, dad, and brother Erik came to watch him tell us about his pictures. Afterwards, his mom read us the story The Gingerbread Baby and she helped us make gingerbread houses. Adin's brother got to make one too! Here are some of his photos.
Decorating Gingerbread Houses
We have been learning about the ways children all over the world celebrate holidays around winter. We found out that in Germany as well as in the United States children love to decorate gingerbread houses around the holidays. We had so much fun doing this today! Thanks to Rozie's mom and dad, Trey's Grandpa, Graham's mom, and Adin's mom and brother for coming today to help with this project. Thanks also to all who donated supplies for our houses. They turned out so beautiful and tasty!
