A Day at the Westwood Nature Center

We were happy to see the rain stop so we could enjoy an outing at the Nature Center.  It was cloudy but a warm day with much to see!  First we were able to explore the inside of the nature center.  We saw many types of animal skins, furs and bones, and learned about many animals who live in the nature center.  Then we saw a puppet show about animals in the fall looking for food and places to live.  It was so funny!  After the show we went on a nature walk using all of our senses to explore nature and try to find signs of animal life around us.  We came back inside and the naturalist Becky brought out a live snake for us to watch and pet!  That was really cool too! Thanks to Skylar's dad Jesse for being our parent chaperone! Here are some photos of our trip:

Field Trip to Minnetonka Apple Orchard

We had beautiful weather for our field trip to the Apple Orchard!  We had a fun bus ride and then when we got there, they did a presentation on cross pollination and taught the children a song about how important it is for bees to pollinate an apple blossoms to help the apples grow.  Then we went on a hayride through the apple trees.  After the hayride, we got to eat apple donuts and a Sweet 16 apple.
We walked to the apple trees and each got to pick a apple to take home. We learned to twist and pull the apples off the branches.  Then we visited the animal barn and pet the goats and a bunny and also saw the sheep.  Before we got on the bus, we played on the fun playground and on the big train.  We were as busy as bees and had a really fun time!  Thanks to Annie's daddy Mike and Elsa's mom Stacie for being our parent volunteers!  We ran out of time so we ate our lunches back at school.  See some of our photos of our great time!
