October is our Big Cheese this week. She had fun things planned. On Monday, her mom came to help introduce October and read to our class. On Wednesday, we had a pizza party sponsored by October's family and her grandma came too- and on Friday, October's mommy Lacey came to lead an art project and snack all in one. We painted rainbows with rainbow icecream-October's favorite snack and then got to eat some icecream! Fun and tasty!

Haircut Day
We had a drawing yesterday and entered all the names of the children on our list for a haircut and we drew Lilah and Chasen's name. Rochelle from Darin James Salon in St. Louis Park (teacher Sheree's salon) came to show us her tools and talk to us about being a hairstylist. Lilah and Chasen sat so still for their haircuts and they looked so nice! The salon even gave us goody bags afterwards- in our cubbies. Thanks to Sheree and Rochelle!
Firefighters Visit
We had a visit from Cary, Shawn, and John some firefighter friends from the St. Louis Park Fire Department. First Firemarshall Cary read us a book about fire safety and calling 911. Then, he talked about smoke alarms and making sure each family has an escape plan and a designated place to go if there is a fire. He dressed up in his gear and let all the kids touch his mask to see that he wasn't scary. Afterwards we went outside to see the big Firetruck and see all the tools on the truck. We got to see the flashing lights and hear the loud siren too! They were so fantastic with the children!! See the notice on the bulletin board regarding the Open House at their new facility on Wooddale.

Visit from Officer Max
Officer Max from the St. Louis Park Police Department came to visit since we were talking about Community Helpers. He taught us about bike safety and stranger danger and also about other ways we can stay safe. We also got to see his police car and even sit inside! At the end he flashed his red lights and even sounded the siren- We had to cover our ears!
Alli Our Big Cheese!
Alli was our Big Cheese the week of May 14th-18th. Her mom came on Monday to show us her photos and help introduce Alli. On Thursday, Alli's mom came to bring us sandwiches, chips, and pickles from their sandwich shop Erberts and Gerberts (hope I spelled that right??) Then, Alli's mom read us a story about a firefighter. We had cookies as a treat from Alli for snack.
